This 2020 Cat 305.5E Amphibious Tree-Cutting Excavator pairs a Wetland Equipment Company amphibious undercarriage with a Dennis Cimaf 065 cutter, making it a purpose-built machine for vegetation and tree clearing in terrain conventional equipment cannot reach. The recessed-track pontoon undercarriage works on solid ground, wetlands, swamps, marshes and lowlands, and is designed to float across waterways.
Power comes from a Cat C3.4B industrial diesel engine rated 60–74.3 HP at 2,200–2,500 RPM, meeting U.S. EPA Tier 4 Final with a diesel particulate filter and no DEF required. The engine uses a high-pressure common rail fuel system, waste-gated turbocharger and closed-circuit breathing system, optimized for high power and torque with low fuel consumption over long-duration industrial operation.
A dedicated auxiliary engine and pump deliver 35 GPM at 5,000 PSI to the cutter, so full hydraulic power reaches the attachment without robbing the boom or stick. The package is built for heavy-duty operation of 10–20 hours per day, up to six days per week, across utility, construction, landscaping, pipeline, infrastructure and site preparation work.
Amphibious conversion by Wetland Equipment Company of Thibodaux, Louisiana; Cat dealer support through Louisiana Cat. Offered at $210,000 FOB Houston.
